The Reason For Two

As many of you may know, when Logan was a baby, Eric and I seriously considered not having any more children. We thought long and hard, talked to other "only child" adults and decided that Logan needed the connection of a sibling while growing up. So, along comes Amanda... only a year and a half apart. The perfect age gap, but my first thought was NOOOOOOO! I was supposed to have another boy! You know. A playmate for my SON!!!! Well, this week has been wonderful as these two very divers people become the best playmates. In the past, they sometimes play together, sometimes fight, but for some reason they have discovered how wonderful cooperative play can be. They play "timber wolves" on the dirt mound. They play "swamp thing" in the mud. "Hunter and hunted" from the tree house.... the list could go on and on, but you get the idea. They are playing together. Honest to goodness imaginative play. And then yesterday during clean up time, Amanda was trying to carry too many toys and droped the whole bunch in a loud crash. Logan goes over to her and says "It's okay, Amanda. You just have to try again." And he picks up half of the toys she was carrying and takes them to her room for her!!! My mommy heart is so happy! : )
