Good Shoot'n Tex

The long awaited day has finally come! Eric was able to give Logan his birthday gift this weekend and the boy is in Hunter Heaven! Check out my big boy with his very own BB gun!
(In all honesty, it was just a matter of time before he got his own gun. Frankly I'm surprised we were able to put him off so long. He is truly obsessed with hunting.)

He is a surprisingly good shot! He is also very responsible with his muzzle control.

He even allowed his daddy to take a few turns. So generous!

He's been practicing all weekend and today he shot 5 shots in a row and hit the center of the target every time. It won't be long before he's heading out with his Dad and Grandpa to do some hunting. I wonder if he'll turn his dog, Hunter, into a true hunting dog soon. : )

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's Off To School He Goes!

Logan was well enough to attend school today (much to his dismay!). Hopefully we have his illnesses under control. When it rains, it really DOES pour!

For The LOVE of ...

About 5:00 this evening, Logan started screaming that his ear was hurting so it was off to the immediate care clinic AGAIN. Looks like he's got an ear infection now on top of all his other woes. They did a strep culture just to be sure and that came back negative, but he does have enlarged lymph nodes again... I sure hope this isn't a bad sign.

NOW WHAT!?!

Even though he had nothing to eat all day yesterday, Logan's body decided to started vomiting last night. Why does this s**t always happen when Eric is out of town?!?!? Hopefully it's just a 24 hour bug. Needless to day, it's another sick day here. Let's just hope that Amanda doesn't catch it (she's not as good at aiming the vomit).

A Rash And A ...

I guess it's a good thing Logan stayed home today! He developed a rash over his whole body suddenly this afternoon. After a quick trip to the doctor, he's now on Benadryl every 4 hours and an daily antihistamine for 6 days. He's not itching anymore, but his whole body is splotchy like he's spent too much time in the sun (and didn't have good sun screen coverage). He's also still not eating so unless he make a miraculous recover tonight, looks like he'll be staying home tomorrow too. Poor guy. He needs to catch a break soon!

Old Fashioned Fun

Logan stayed home from school today with some lower gi issues. He's feeling good most of the time, he just needs to stay close to the bathroom.

Anyway, we are getting creative on how to entertain ourselves without the tv (my rules since I wanted to be sure he wasn't just playing hookie) and we pulled out the old fashioned games... We played hide and seek for an hour, then broke out the boxes to make a tunnel town. The dogs really got into it as well.

Skater Boy

Logan found this little skate board I picked up somewhere and fell in skater love. He spent the afternoon skating in the basement (we rolled up the rug) and after we got home this evening, he decided he needed to try outside. Here's my skater boy on his maiden voyage.

Did you notice our very "butch" Amanda (Eric's words) riding by? We just got back from a gymnastic birthday party and this was the outfit she chose to wear. I said "no dresses or skirts" and this is what she came up with. I guess it's all or nothing with her : )

Beautiful Dress... Dirty Job

As you all know, my beautiful daughter really likes beautiful things, including this beautiful dress that Grandma Gayle bought her... Isn't see pretty? Well, my little princess doesn't mind getting a little dirty (in fact, she LOVES to get messy!) she just wants to be pretty while digging and scooping. Here are some photos and a video of Amanda Monkey helping me outside yesterday afternoon.

First... The beautiful dress:

Thank you, Grandma! She LOVES it!

Now, the dirty job... scooping dog poo. She insisted on doing it all by herself. She actually got mad at me when I got a different shovel to help. She came running up to me shouting "THAT'S MY POOP, MOM! Go find your own." (Wish I had that on video! ha ha ha)
I would think that she is the most beautiful girl EVER to scoop poop!

Don't worry, Grandma. She is VERY talented and didn't get a single speck of "dirt" on her beautiful dress!

Then, after our yard was completely clean, she decided to do some gardening : ).

Birthday Bliss

It's been a little busy around here so please forgive me for this belated post about Logan's Birthday weekend.

Thursday (no school for him) we had to stay home to meet the delivery man (we have the counter top for our new wet bar in the basement now! YEA!) so he had an all you can play wii fest. Then when Amanda was at Preschool (weird that she had school and he didn't!) we had an check up at this cancer doctor... and all is well as expected.

Friday we hosted a playdate here and Logan was in HEAVEN because his friend E was able to join us. They don't see each other much now that they are both in Kindergarten and the had a ball running around doing "boy" things : ). After Lunch (and dragging Eric away from his computer... kicking and screaming) we packed up the car and headed for KC. Logan wanted to see his cousins for his birthday.

Saturday, Logan was able to do some target shooting with Gpa Phil and his dad... He was on cloud nine! Gpa Phil has a be be gun that he let Logan shoot and then the big boys brought out the big guns... Literally! (but don't worry, Logan didn't shoot those! : ) While the boys were busy pumping lead, the girls went into town to do some shopping and Amanda wanted a hair cut. Saturday afternoon we took Logan to a wrestling tournament his older cousin was competing in... for a crazy active (aggressive?) little guy like him it was pure bliss. Then Saturday night he got to spend the night a K and K's house! (more cousins) I have no clue how that went because Eric and I had a date night! : ) but he was a very happy little boy when we picked him up the next day.

Sunday's highlight was the Nerf gun war at my parents house. My mom, in a fit of inspiration, bought numerous Nerf guns and the 5 grand kids and various adults spent most of the day shooting foam darts at each other. What 6 year old wouldn't enjoy an 8 hour dart war!!??!? We headed back to Wichita around 7:00 Sunday night because stick-in-the-mud Eric had to WORK the next day... (Nasty little four letter word!)

Monday dawned and Logan woke up bright and early, dressed and was ready to head to Chuck E Cheese before the sun was up! We had to sadly wait until they opened their doors at 10 a.m., but the monkeys still had a bang up time! We had to end our party weekend on a sour note... Dentist check ups for both kids in the afternoon... but they both did GREAT! Logan went first to set a good example for Amanda and surprisingly, with all that chemo and suppressed immune system, his dental health didn't suffer! NO CAVITIES! Amanda did great as well (after her trip to the opthamologist, I had my doubts about her!) but after careful inspection, my baby girl has 3 cavities!!! Poor baby! I wonder if it has something to do with not having fluoride in our water... anyway, she goes back next Wednesday for fillings : (.

We haven't had a chance to give Logan his birthday present from us yet... it needs parental supervision of the male kind and Eric has been out of town all week (AGAIN!) Maybe we'll have time tonight (before swim lessons) to give it to him... MAN our life is busy!

Swim Lessons

Life is getting back to normal with the kids now enrolled in swim lessons two days a week for the next 8 weeks. Here are my monkeys on their fist day.

** I recommend you turn your speakers WAY down or mute them altogether. It was VERY loud in the pool area with all those kids! **

FYI - I moved Logan's follow up visit to Thursday so he could participate in the Valentine party at school.

All Is Well

Logan had his first CBC at his old doctor and everything looks good. He was very worried about the needle and cried before they even touched him but had stopped completely before he was even stuck. I'm sure he'll get use to needles again as this will be the norm for the next year. We'll see his cancer doctor on Wednesday of a check up.

Goofy Glasses

I don't even remember where they got these goofy glasses but it makes me laugh every time they wear them. Enjoy.

Welcome Home

I thought you all would enjoy seeing how I'm greeted each day when I meet Logan at his bus stop. I feel so loved!

Famous Chef

We now have a published chef in the family! As many of you know, Eric LOVES to cook, however he NEVER follows a given recipe. He's always experimenting (it's like a science project to him) so no two dishes ever turn out the same. Well, he was wanting to make a Black Bean Soup... so he just made up a recipe! After trying it out for dinner two nights ago, he decided to submit it to an online recipe website... AND IT GOT PUBLISHED!

Here is the link to his "Easy Vegetarian Black Bean Tortilla Soup" with Nutrition Facts. I'm such a lucky girl! : )

Ready For School

Today is TERRIFIC TUESDAY!!!! In approximately 60 minutes, I will be child free for 5.5 hours!!! Yesterday afternoon I started painting the living room and this morning, after the kids were ready for school I asked them to stand in front of my newly painted wall to show those of you interested the new color... It turned into an impromptu photo shoot. Check out my results!

Looking at these photos you would think that they liked each other or something!!!
