Scout Flag Ceremony and Band Concert

Tonight the kids both had an event at school.  Amanda's girl scout troop did the opening flag ceremony and Logan's band performed.
The 5th and 6th grade bands sat together (they are both really small) so that is why you see so many people not playing in the videos.

Union City Science Fair

Logan's science club participated in the regional science fair competition at Union Station this month.  His project was studying the root growth of tree cuttings from an austree to determine if water only grew roots faster or if rooting the cuttings in dirt with water would produce better roots.

I am proud to share that his project won 2nd place at Union Station and he has been invited to compete in the nation science fair!
 Way to go Logan!

Here he is with his award.

First Two Days of Spring Break

I am breaking up our spring break photos into multiple posts because I took SOOOOOOOO many pictures and it would be hard to get them all into one post.  We had a wonderful trip to Smokey Mountains in Tennessee.  Along the way we stopped at a wonderful nature center for some hiking and bird watching.

When we got to our camp site in the Smokey Mountains we had to set up in the rain... than turned to sleet... that turned to snow!
Good thing that it doesn't take long to set up camp nowadays.
 The snow really got serious!
I'm glad I made sure everyone packed stocking hats and gloves for this trip!

Amanda and I went for a snow hike about dusk.

The next morning the sun was shining bright and very quickly melted the snow.

I sat out in the melting and falling snow for over an hour... just enjoying.

Spring Break - Fishy World

One of our day trips was to an aquarium.  These kids will sit and watch fish for hours!

This stingray really wanted to give Amanda a kiss.

The moving fish tunnel was a family favorite.  We went back to this exhibit several times.

 Flounder!

Amanda was enjoying the moving walkway!

 Touching horseshoe crabs and jellyfish.

 BIGGEST.  CRAB.  EVER.

We turned a normally 2 hour aquarium visit into a 6 hour excursion.  I think we got our money's worth.

Spring Break - Mirror Maze

We gave the kids the list of things to do and they both really wanted to do the mirror maze.  I was surprised at how much fun we all had!

Amanda met lots of new friends!

Will the real Logan please step forward!

Traversing the mirror maze was a challenge!

Then we had to stop at the CANDY FACTORY!
