Busy, Busy, Busy

We are setting into our new routine, but we are almost booked solid. The kids are both doing Spring Soccer and have practice at different times, 2 days a week and games on Saturday. Between School, preschool, Gymnastics (Amanda), Eric leaving town and my new work schedule we have to be very watchful of the calender to avoid forgetting something. So far, it's not anything I can't handle, but some days I long for the carefree toddler days where we would just go where the wind blew us.

Snow Camping

So here I sit in our camper (still in our backyard : ) preparing the camp... IN THE SNOW! This is a definite first for me. Talking to my mom tonight she mentioned that KC is getting snow so I checked our weather and we're forecasted to get snow tomorrow morning as well. Hope our heater can keep up. If not, it's just a short walk to the warmth of the house. Man, the crazy things we do for our children!

Pop It Up!

Introducing my new toy! I've wanted a popup camper for 10 years and we finally decided the time was right to buy one this year. They kids are super excited and as I type we are camping in the back yard for the second night now. We've been super busy playing/setting up our new camper (when I haven't been working) and getting it ready for a "real" camping trip but it's a lot of fun camping in the backyard too. (and quite convenient)

Here are the kids just about ready for bed. They're both asleep now (and the dogs are too : ) as I type this. Who knew sleeping would be so much fun!
The kids are on spring break all this coming week so hopefully we'll be able to pull it all together and head out to a "real" campground later this week. Bring on the FUN TIMES!

Mom, Quick, LOOK AT ME!

I was working on the computer when I heard "Hey, MOM! Quick, LOOK AT ME!" and this is what greeted me. I had to be fast on the draw with the camera because he could only hold her up for a short time. But SUPER cute while it lasted! : )

Maiden Voyage

Logan received a late birthday gift via the mail this past weekend. We just had to brave the crazy Kansas wind to try it out Saturday. (and again on Sunday! ; )

The Winds of Change

I'm SUPER excited!!!!

I've landed myself a part time job at the zoo in the education department!!!!

WHOOO HOOO!

Looks like my plans are all falling into place. I'll still be a stay-at-home mom (and keep working at the preschool for 3 more months) until Amanda goes to Kindergarten. I'll be teaching programs in the evenings and on weekends (but not every evening or weekend) so I think this is a perfect fit for me now. (And a good way to get my foot in the door!)

Bobcat Encounter?!?

Logan came home from playing at a friend's house yesterday with a story and a bloody face. He told me that he was hiking in the woods and came upon a bobcat and it attacked him. Of course, he had a HUGE smile on his face while he told the story and the injury didn't look like it was made by a large cat, but he still had a huge bloody wound on his face! After I hugged and loved on him and mopped up the blood he told me what really happened. He WAS in the woods, but apparently had a run in with a branch rather than a bobcat. Silly boy! It's not nice to try to fool your mom.
I didn't think to get a photo until after I clean him up. It doesn't look as bad in the photo as when he walked in the door, but it's still a big scratch and will probably leave a scar.

And since I didn't want it to become infected and run the chance of leaving a bigger scar I made him go to school today with a huge bandage on his face.

I'm sure he'll have to tell every one he runs into today how he gained his injury. I just wonder which story he'll tell...

Spring Peak

Yesterday, with the 66 degree day, we declared it a stay-outside-as-long-as-possible day. Amanda and I worked on cutting back plants and stacking some wood. When Logan got home we lit the fire and fed it nice dry branches from our cuttings while dad BBQ dinner. Then they dug some holes, played on the swing, and threw more sticks on the fire. Just as the sun was setting, Logan asked me if we could plant some seeds in the garden. It's almost dark, and really too early to plant, but hey, who am I to deny my adorable son. So we planted some onions, brussel sprouts (a first for us) and broccoli. After watering them in (in the dark) we all reluctantly headed back inside. What a beautiful day. Hurry Spring. Hurry fast.
