Look, Gayle, LOOK!

I found some ice skating photos on Eric's cell phone! Now I don't have to "get my butt back there!" : )

A Walk In The Park

Friday was SOOOO pretty what we just HAD to get out and enjoy it. Amanda and I did some work in the garden while we waited for Logan to get out of school. Then we packed up the car and dogs and headed to our favorite park. (you know the one... with the creek?) I DID take my camera, but this time forgot to check that the memory card was inside but here are some photos from Eric's phone.

Our crazy dogs playing in the ice cold creek. They were retrieving the ice chunks that Logan broke off.
Standing on a piece of ice in SHORT SLEEVES in JANUARY! : ) Priceless! He's shoving "ice boats" into the creek and "wooden people" on board.

Right before the chunk he's standing of gives way.
Wet feet, but no harm done.

Cat Hammock

I guess there is something to that curiosity thing with cats. The dogs are jealous and the kids are ecstatic that the cat has found a new favorite place to sleep. We're calling it the Cat Hammock. It's the tent canopy Logan put up over his bed! Most days and nights you can find our white furry friend curled up here. Hope he doesn't gain too much more weight!

Ice Skating

Saturday Eric and I took the kids ice skating for the first time. I was amazed at at well Amanda took to the ice. That girl has no fear of anything... not even falling on her bum on hard cold ice. After a couple of laps around with me holding her had she asked me to let go so she could skate by herself! She did fall (LOTS) but buy the end she looked was skating better than half the people out here (adults included!)

I forgot my camera : ( so I have nothing to show you, but Logan was hilarious!!! He thought the way to propel yourself forward was to move your arms WILDLY. He end up taking a few people out with his flailing arms. HA! : D He also had no fear and jump right out here, but he just wasn't getting the hang of it like Amanda. We all had a super fun time and will go again soon. But it was a good workout for Eric and me!

Weekend With Horton

Logan brought the class pet, Horton, home from school this past weekend. We took Horton to Kansas City with us to see Shrek The Musical.

THANKS, DAD!!! (my dad bought us tickets for Christmas) The kids LOVED it and so did Eric and I. It was super funny, very entertaining, and kept even our Wiggle Worm enthralled! We had to head back to Wichita after the musical because Logan had a wrestling tournament first thing Sunday morning.
He won his first round, but lost the other two.
But all they boys had similar records so he tied for second place!!!
And Horton was there to share it all!

Milestone

Today may just be another Friday to you, but for me it is a major milestone. Today marks the end of a 12 year long journey... paying off my student loan.

So, as of today, January 14th, 2011, I officially own my brain!!!! : )

Hip, Hip, HOORAY!!!!!

Snow Day... A Day Late

We got a phone call last night that our school district decided to cancel class for Tuesday to do -20 windchill and blowing snow icing over the roads. I would have preferred to have had the snow day on Monday (when I had to work) and still kept my Mom's Day Out (and volunteered at the zoo as planned) but that's how things go sometimes.

I tried to wake Logan up at 10:00 last night and tell him "NO SCHOOL TOMORROW!!!! So sleep in!" : ) but Eric wouldn't let me. : ( For SOME reason, he didn't think that would be a good idea. Spoilsport!

NOW it feels like WINTER!

Well, we finally got some snow, but not as much as we were all hoping for. Only two inches... enough to play in but not enough to cancel school. Logan was very disappointed that he couldn't stay home today, but that didn't stop him from enjoying as much as he could before the bus came. He was dressed and outside by 6 am so he could shovel the driveway, sled on our tiny hill, and play snowball with the dogs. On Monday his bus doesn't come until 8:00 (late start) so he enjoyed 2 full hours of snow play this morning. Amanda joined in around 7:00. After promising to pick him up from school with the sleds in the car (so we can hit our favorite sledding hill) he reluctantly agreed to head to the bus stop. : ) The good news is that it looks like the snow will be sticking around for a while... the bad is that we'll have SUPER cold weather! : (

New Year, Same Old

Well, so far noting seems different than 2010, and I'm totally happy with that. The same old, same old is just fine by me! We all started back to work/school and the transition went smoothly for all. After taking down the Christmas decorations I got bit by the Spring Cleaning bug. (I LOVE when that happens!) I've rearranged the living room, cleaned and organized the kids room (to make room for their new things), and started reorganizing the kitchen cabinets. I hope this bug lasts until spring is really here! : )
