Date Night!

My Mom offered to take the kids for the night to give Eric and me a date night.  We decided to spend our time on a project.  I've been loosing things behind the washer/dryer for a while and I asked Eric to help me solve the problem.

After a quick shopping trip, we (mostly Eric) set to work!

FINISHED!  It was a fast fix-it project that will make chores a little more bearable.

 THANKS HONEY!
The floor replacement and cabinet painting are still on our to-do list but that won't be for a while yet.

Painting Party

Here is yet another "better late than never" post.  These photos were lost in the depths of my phone file and forgotten until now.

Amanda was invited to attend a friend's birthday party where they all created a master piece.
It was LOUD, EXCITING, and FUN!

They painted the picture in stages and enjoyed drinks and snacks while each stage dried.

I was amazed that the talent we had in this group.

I'm not sure I could have done this nice a job!

Good Timing for a Sick Day

Logan was sent home from school yesterday with a fever.  He laid on the couch all evening feeling poorly and went to bed early.  This morning he woke up feeling great!  No fever or other symptoms but he has to be fever free for 24 hours before going back to school so he stayed home with me anyway.  Since today is a rare 71 degrees we decided to break out the hammock and enjoy the wonderful weather.  Not a bad day to be sick, I say!

Mother Son Date Night

Since Eric and Amanda were out enjoying the evening, Logan and I decided to follow suit.  I took him to the Sports Show downtown and we both had a blast!  We climbed in EVERY boat, visited EVERY vendor booth, and watched EVERY show scheduled!  Our favorite was the Dock Dogs competition.  We may have to enter our furry monkeys next year to see how they measure up jumping off docks to catch their toys.  I think they would DIG IT!

I only snapped a few photos of the event and most were blurry.  I wish I had thought to take a photo of Logan in the giant yacht.  It was ONLY $600,000!  Logan thought we could sell our house and live on the boat but I burst his bubble when I told him we would have to sell our neighbors' houses' too and that would be a tight squeeze.

Here Logan is hugging this suped-up camo golf cart.

Father Daughter Dance

Saturday Eric took Amanda to a Father Daughter dance.  What a cute couple!

A friend of mine sent a couple of photos from the event.

Goodbye Ugly Chandelier

Eric and I spent a winter weekend on a project we have been planning on since the day we moved in.  Taking down the ugly chandelier and painting the entry.  As you can tell by the equipment we rented, this was a big project!
Before renting the scaffolding I painted 4 different test paint colors to determine the best fit for the space.  Here is Eric ready to remove this 1980's light fixture and replace with a more modern chandelier.
We also painted the ceiling.  Can you tell it needed it?  : )

Then we took advantage of the scaffolding and painted the rest of the entry.

Here is the finished product!
It's looking better and better around here!
