NEW TENT!

Last weekend Eric bought me a new tent for our anniversary and we just HAD to try it out right away! He got the inside scoop from a friend at work about Fall River State Park so we packed up the car Friday night and drove about a hour and a half to the campground. It was very nice, off the beaten path, and with LOTS OF TREES!!!! We were even serenaded that night by a Chuck-wills-widow (cool night bird of all you non-ornithologist types : )

The best part was, by far, the lake that was formed by damming the Fall River. I was just a short hike down the hill from our campsite. We had to check out the water Friday night after dinner then again FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. Then all afternoon. We are all a little waterlogged and sunburned but OH the fun we had!
These water loving dogs had the BEST time fetching the balls from the water. I think they retrieved for 3 hours straight! And these little monkeys WOULDN'T GET OUT OF THE WATER!
"MORE, MORE, MORE!" they cried...
Until they passed out on the beach! : )
Here's Amanda doing her Karate Kid imitation.
Then they wanted to swim across the bay to the dock on the other side so they could jump off. Who am I do deny my children... and it's a good workout to boot!
Eric had to stay on the other side with the dogs so they wouldn't try to swim across with us.

They did manage to find a few minutes to make use of the playground while I was cleaning up from lunch but that's all we had time for. Next time maybe we'll be able to check out some of their hiking trails (and there will be a next time for sure!).
Check out this HUGE spider that spent the night with us! (my hand for size reference).
I woke in the middle of the night to see him crawling up the side of the tent however I waited until morning to fish out my camera. Look at this monster! The kids were AMAZED.
We only camped one night since Saturday's high was predicted to be 97 degrees. That's just NO fun to camp in so we packed up and headed home when the temperature started to get unbearable.
Oh, and we LOVE the tent! It's a definite keeper!

  1. Oh dear...the spider! YOU WAITING UNTIL MORNING??!!? Crazy woman! I would have jumped up immediately and gotten that dang thing outta there! HA! Your camping trip looks like tons of fun, did the kids sleep good the next night?

  2. That spider was fast too! We didn't "catch" him as much as herd him out the door. He could jump about a foot straight up. Very cool!

  3. That looks like a great time except for the spider. I would have got in the car after seeing that :)
