Tonight's Gonna Be A Good Night!
This morning Logan had is teacher conference at school and he it doing great (highest grade he can receive) in Science, Math, and Social Studies. He needs to work more on his reading comprehension but other than that he's doing great.
After the conference we had some special Mommy/Logan time while Amanda played at a friends house. Then headed to the doctor for his February checkup.
Logan got his first clean bill of health for 2011! Every month his probability of relapse goes down and we are all breathing a little easier tonight.
To celebrate our great news we lit a bonfire and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. I guess mother nature was celebrating too! What a beautiful night.

Sunday in Houston
Well, we're back home after a very fun, but busy, trip to Houston. Sunday we started off by swimming in the hotel pool then getting dressed, packing a lunch and heading to the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center. It was a beautiful day in Houston and we enjoyed hiking on the trails.
Then we headed downtown to the Houston Aquarium.
Then we headed downtown to the Houston Aquarium.
Logan was trying to scare the puffer fish into puffing up. No luck.
Pretending to be a fish. : )
Underwater viewing bubble in the sting ray touch pool. They also got to touch the sting rays and small sharks.

Tiny horseshoe crabs!

But the aquarium didn't just stop there. They also had a seven acre complex with a train ride to the shark underwater viewing building. Super Cool!
Heading into the building. The roof of the train was glass top so you could see the sharks swimming above you.
Lots of cool sharks in this tank, like this saw nose shark.

Then they also had a few rides that were very loosely aquatic themed. This one was a favorite. I think they called it the Deep Sea Dive. It just pulled you to the top and let you free fall about 3 or 4 times. We had to ride this one about 20 times before they had their fill. Good thing the line wasn't as long for this as it was for the train! : )

Gee Thanks
This morning Logan is hanging out in by bedroom while I'm getting ready and I try on a sweater and ask Logan if it looks okay. My lovely son says: "Yeah, Mom. You don't look fat at all in that." Gee thanks.
Then this afternoon, spending time with Amanda I compliment her on her outfit.
Me - "Those pants are super cute. I wish I had a pair just like them."
Am- "I don't think they come in HUGE."
Nice

POOR PUPPY!
Hunter was out playing on the snow drifts today when he fell through and impaled his foot on something hidden under the snow. I suspect it was a branch, but it did a lot of damage. He had a very deep cut to the pad of this foot which required a trip to the vet. The doc said that area wouldn't hold stitches so he used surgical glue to patch up our faithful friend.
Would you just look at that face! : ( Poor guy. He got a snot of antibiotics, a weird wrap on his foot, but the worst thing is that he can't go out side whenever he wants! I have to put a baggy on his foot to keep it dry and walk him on a leash so he stays off the snow drifts. Sometimes life just sucks, doesn't it big guy?
So here he sits, on his doggy bed, staring out the widow at his wonderful backyard and wishing his momma would open the door. "Please, momma, PPPPLLLLLEEEEAAAASSSSEEEEEEE!"

And I just couldn't put that nasty Elizabethan collar on him to keep him from pulling off his bandage (as the vet recommended). I sprayed the area with Bitter Barrier (used to keep puppies from chewing things) and it works like a charm. He's licking his OTHER leg because he can't get to the hurt one. ***sigh***

Snow Drift Fun 1
Day two of our snow days! Yesterday we just looked out the window and the crazy blowing snow. This morning we discovered some awesome snow drifts behind our fence! We only got 5 inches of snow, but the drift was about 3 feet tall. The dogs and kids are having a GREAT time! (and Mom is too : ) But I'm pretty sure tomorrow we will all be back to school. DARN!
Snow Drift Fun 2
FYI - I'm a single mom for 8 days. Eric is in Reno for a sales meeting and the "boys" are taking the weekend to travel to Tahoe for some skiing afterwards. Hope his robo-knee holds out!
